On 27 September 2018, the South Cambridgeshire Local Plan was adopted by South Cambridgeshire District Council. The Local Plan will guide development decisions within the district until 2031, and seeks to provide 22,000 additional jobs and 19,500 new homes.

Bourn Airfield, including the former Gestamp Tallent site, has been identified in the Local Plan as a suitable location to accommodate 3,500 homes and new employment space. The residential  development, known as the Bourn New Village, is being promoted by Countryside Properties.

The former Gestamp Tallent site is an existing employment site and its retention and redevelopment for employment purposes is actively encouraged by the policies within the Local Plan.

The Bourn Quarter proposals will help to meet the growing demand from small and medium sized local and regional businesses for high-quality floorspace, while also contributing to the district’s wider employment needs through the creation of additional jobs.
